From the sounds of the things, most of us will not be seeing the tax breaks we were hoping for, we were promised, by our elected representatives. Why? Most will try to blame Trump, but is it really his fault?
What this country needs our representatives to do goes way beyond anything they appear to even be considering. Most of us have been forced to scale things down in our household budgets to pay for irresponsible government. Is it not time for our government to start being responsible with the money they forcibly take from the people it exists to protect? The federal (and state) budgets are replete with unnecessary spending, some of which I alluded to in my last post, and those represent just a drop in the bucket of wasted tax dollars. The American taxpayer is saddled with numerous agencies that should not exist, forced charity, a welfare system that is not constructed to help anyone but rather entrap them in government dependence.
Most Americans are not against programs to help people who have fallen on hard times get back on their feet. However, the system is not set up to do that. In its current form it makes it nearly impossible for anyone to get back on their feet financially and become independent again, as such, we end up with a large portion of society stuck in a lifetime of dependence, which often becomes generational. The welfare system MUST be reformed to a program geared at temporarily helping people get back on their feet and become productive members of society as opposed to penalizing those who attempt to do just that by discontinuing benefits when they make an effort to dig themselves out. Give them a little time to get back on their feet and begin earning a living wage before pulling the rug out from under them. Put a limit on how long these benefits can be collected; there are jobs out there and some people need that incentive to take the initiative to be responsible for themselves.
This may step on a few toes, but are you aware that the annual budget for programs under the National Endowment for the Arts is almost half a BILLION dollars? I don’t know about you, but it seems reasonable that those struggling just to keep a roof over their families’ heads and put food on the table likely have no interest in supporting such a cause. This should be privatized and those that can afford it, and find it so important can support it voluntarily. This expenditure does nothing for the average American, it does not serve to keep us safe or maintain failing infrastructure. It is forced charity and burdensome to the American people. How about the tax dollars spent on food stamps, WIC, and Medicaid for ILLEGAL immigrants? Yep, that sounds like something struggling American families need to be forced to pay for! Yet liberals, who claim to be so concerned for the American people who are struggling under this oppressive and burdensome monstrosity of a government fight attempts to control illegal immigration.
What’s wrong with Congress? It seems everything right now. They lack the backbone needed to stand and represent the people against the Washington machine that seeks to control the masses and grow its own power. They lack the fortitude to tackle the difficult issues at the core of our fiscal problems. They are so embroiled in the divisive politics of the day that they are neglecting their duty to do what is best for this nation and the people they were elected to serve. It is time for the people of this great nation to elect representatives that are willing and able to rip apart the gargantuan and imposing society that has become our government, along with its extensive and overreaching budget and scale it back to what the founders intended it to be. Again, the federal government should exist to do only those things that people cannot do, or cannot practically do for themselves. Do that, and we will once again be a nation where dreams come true and anyone willing to put out the effort can succeed.
