Beware of Facebook Scam

Last night I was logged out of Facebook and got this message:

Let’s Check Your Device for Malicious Software
Hi ________, we’re continuously working to keep your account secure. We’ve noticed that this device may be infected with malicious software. To continue to use Facebook, you can either use other devices or clean this device by downloading the scanner provided by Facebook and Kaspersky Lab.

Now, I use a program that I pay for annually that was recommended by many IT people. The message states you can use other devices to clean this device; I ran my program twice, did deep scans, NOTHING was found!  Still cannot login to Facebook.  I searched the internet and what I found were many articles claiming that it happened to them and Facebook seemed to be targeting those that post on controversial subjects.  The articles also indicated that if you download the scanner Facebook is offering, it installs spyware on your computer.  We are able to access the page from a cell phone, however, when we tried to post about this supposed scam that Facebook is running, asking if anyone knew a way around it, we got a message stating we did not have authorization for that action. Interestingly enough, we were able to post other content with no problem.  Another interesting little tidbit, Facebook does not seem to detect anything when we attempt to login to other accounts from the same device they are claiming is infected. Seems pretty clear that they are targeting our page.  So much for the First Amendment.

If Facebook wants to serve as an agent for liberal ideologies that is absolutely their right, but it should be made clear so that those who would like to discuss and offer differing opinions can go elsewhere.  This is not the first time DCoutsider’s Facebook page has been targeted.  Our first page was disabled by Facebook multiple times.  After the third or fourth time we created a new page and have not had any trouble for the past few weeks until yesterday.   I am convinced they are trying to silence us from sharing the truth.  If anyone knows how to get around downloading their software, please leave a message in the comments section, until then, we will attempt to continue posting from a cell phone.
